Background:

Little is known about J.F. Becker, but he was an architect who did much work in Wausau in the 1870s. Mr. Becker designed the distinguished Jacob Kolter house at 202 Grand Avenue in 1876, as well as the now-demolished Jacob Paff and Richard Baumann buildings in 1876 and 1877, respectively. In addition, Mr. Becker built several schools which have also been razed.
