Background:
Holton's Heritage, published in 1975, talks about Bruckerville. It was located in the NE corner of Sec .15 of Holton Twp. Joseph Brucker owned the land, a store and "postal service" in 1882. (See also Brucker in Johnson Twp.). Bruckerville was at the intersection of the current Brucker Ave. and Hwy. A. Brucker also owned a sawmill about 2 miles east in Section 11.

Bruckerville School #3 was located near the store. It was the only two room school in Holton Twp. It was built in about 1896.

Bruckerville Cheese Factory, located at the intersection of County Highways A and F, was owned and operated by Fred H. Reynolds. It closed in 1953 after merging with the nearby Dorchester Cheese Factory.
