Eight costumed re-enactors portrayed real people from the Wausau area's past during the Marathon County Historical Society's “Voices from the Past: A Discovery Walk through Pine Grove Cemetery” on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Pine Grove Cemetery along Grand Avenue in Wausau. Tours began at 11 am and left every 15 minutes for the next three-plus hours!
Each time we plan this cemetery tour, we highlight different people from history. In 2017, re-enactors portrayed Mark Ewing (1869-1922), Elizabeth Le Messurier (1799-1869) and John Le Messurier (1800-1885), Mary Kramer (1874-1956) mother of George Kramer (1896-1913), Hans Hagge (1886-1959), Cornelius Curtis (1851-1916), D.C. Everest (1883-1955), and Dr. Margaret Trevitt (1858-1925).
The weather was hot and humid, but sunny, making a stroll through Pine Grove a pleasure for the visitors.
THANK YOU to all our re-enactors and to the additional volunteers who helped make this day so successful!
