Welsh immigrants came to Wisconsin in kthe early days of statehood. In Wales most were poor tenant farmers and they maintained their farming way of life here on their own land. Others worked in the lead mines of southwestern Wisconsin. New to this edition are two collections of letters; the firt documents settlement in Wisconsin and the second was written by a Welsh coorporal in the 23rd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment to family members in Dodge County.
